  1. Joe Walsh: My Life in 15 Songs

Posted May 27 2016 by User 0 Comments

From RollingStone.com - BY RICHARD BIENSTOCK

Joe Walsh has called himself an "ordinary average guy," which is something of a stretch for a man who's written some of rock's greatest riffs, from the James Gang's "Funk #49" to the Eagles' "Life in the Fast Lane" and his own "Rocky Mountain Way." Walsh's offstage exploits are similarly the stuff of legend: He's hung with Hendrix, freaked out Elton John, leveled hotel rooms with the likes of Keith Moon and John Belushi, and even ran for president (his platform: Free Gas for Everyone) – all while consuming enough vodka and cocaine to fell an elephant. "I never imagined how far down one could go," Walsh told Rolling Stone recently about his years of abuse. "But I went there. And it was a long way back."

Now 68 and sober for more than two decades, Walsh has righted his course. He released a well-received album, Analog Man, in 2012, and is currently out playing sheds on a co-headlining run with Bad Company, on the aptly named "One Hell of a Night" tour. He checked in with RS from a (presumably intact) hotel room in Arkansas to look back on his roughly half century in music. "It's a pretty good list of songs," he remarked about the ones discussed here. But, he added, "I don't think I'm done yet. There's still some more stuff I want to say."

Head over to RollingStone.com to check out the list of songs.

  2. I have a few shows coming up in North Carolina: June 30th in Charlotte at the PNC Pavilion on my tour with Bad Company and August 9th in Raleigh at the Red Hat Amphitheater as part of my solo run. North Carolina has been in the news lately because of the new legislation passed (HB-2) that dictates which bathrooms transgender individuals are to use and overrules LGBT anti-discrimination measures passed by local governments in the state of North Carolina. It also deprives the rights of LGBT persons to fight back when their rights are denied in the workplace.

This legislation is deeply disconcerting and offensive to me and it hits close to home because, in addition to my diverse friends and peers from all walks of life, I have a gay stepson of whom I am very proud and that this legislation would directly affect. Because I am against discrimination of any kind, I encourage a full repeal of this law.

I believe that music is a language that connects people – without bias – and that my shows are a place where all are welcome and all can feel safe. This is why I have chosen to proceed with concert dates as planned in North Carolina and will be donating my net profits to Equality NC and the ACLU. Both of these organizations will be on site at my show passing out information and collecting donations. You can also find links to their pages on my website where you can get more information or make a donation. Please consider contributing to these organizations who are working to repeal HB-2 and join me in coming together to protect equal rights for everyone including our LGBT children today and for years to come.

    With gratitude and love,

    Joe Walsh

  5. ADDITIONAL U.S. SHOWS FOLLOW “ONE HELL OF A NIGHT” TOUR WITH BAD COMPANY

Joe Walsh confirmed additional tour dates that will directly follow up his co-headline tour with Bad Company. The “Walsh Toor 2016” will kick off in Ohio, birthplace of the James Gang, with dates in West Virginia, up and down the East Coast, as far north as Maine and down to South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee. Special guests JD & the Straight Shot will be opening.

Walsh will be joined by his Barnstorm bandmate Joe Vitale on drums as well as Chad Cromwell, Waddy Wachtel on guitar, Larry Young on bass, Jimmy Wallace on keyboards and DJ Clayton Janes. Singers Leslie Fuller, Lois Mahalia, Windy Wagner and Rickey Washington will provide background vocals.

“I decided to round up great players that I’ve played with in the past, like Joe, Waddy, Chad and Ricky. These guys know my music and I’m very comfortable playing with them. I think this band is the best I’ve had in a long time. I didn’t feel that the One Hell of a Night Tour should be the end based on how we are all playing.”

Drawing from an extensive catalog of hits throughout his four-decade career, the set list will include “Rocky Mountain Way”, “Walk Away”, “Life’s Been Good To Me So Far”, “Funk 49”, “Life In The Fast Lane”, “In The City”, “Over and Over”, “Life of Illusion”, “Turn To Stone”, “Ordinary Average Guy”, “Analog Man” and more.

Walsh has been busy and recently contributed an original song, “No Man’s Land” to the documentary, Citizen Soldier, about an Oklahoma National Guard unit which was called up to active duty and fought heroically in Afghanistan. Walsh has also been working with Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and original James Gang guitarist Glenn Schwartz.

Tickets for “Walsh Toor 2016” will go on sale this week. This tour will include a number of special VIP ticket packages which may include Premium Tickets, Meet & Greets, Exclusive Merchandise and more.
