It Is With The Heaviest of Hearts That We Announce…

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of husband, best friend, father, comrade, and Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.

Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.

“It's Your World Now”
Written by Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin
From the Eagles’ Long Road Out of Eden album

A perfect day, the sun is sinkin' low
As evening falls, the gentle breezes blow
The time we shared went by so fast
Just like a dream, we knew it couldn't last
But I'd do it all again
If I could, somehow
But I must be leavin' soon
It's your world now

It's your world now
My race is run
I'm moving on
Like the setting sun
No sad goodbyes
No tears allowed
You'll be alright
It's your world now

Even when we are apart
You'll always be in my heart
When dark clouds appear in the sky
Remember true love never dies

But first a kiss, one glass of wine
Just one more dance while there's still time
My one last wish: someday, you'll see
How hard I tried and how much you meant to me

It's your world now
Use well your time
Be part of something good
Leave something good behind
The curtain falls
I take my bow
That's how it's meant to be
It's your world now
It's your world now
It's your world now

Glenn was a wonerful artist, and I really enjoyed his smugglers blues mtv Vidio from the 80's, that part he played on Miami Vic was classic. I miss the ticket price's charged in the 70's,as I seen the Eagles for 5 dollars at St. Paul civic center back in 78, they didn't let Joe Walsh on till the third or fourth song and the crowd went wild,I always remember the look on the rest of the bands faces, and I hoped that would cement Joes position with the band as Joe Walsh saved this group.

Fortunate to see the Eagles last year at the XL Center in Hartford, CT. Glenn sang his heart out and gave us his all during that concert – the band was simply great. It’s been a Long Run since the 70’s and enjoyed every year he shared with us. Prayers and sympathy are with each of you as you embrace the everlasting memories of a husband, father, band member, friend and fan. Peace be with you.

From singing "Already Gone" in my first college band to synthesizing the sax part in "You Belong to the City" in Ringmaster years later, I played a lot of classics by Glenn Frey. Always talented, sometimes contentious, but gentlemanly, he will be missed.

I was driving my wife to work this morning when I heard the news. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Glenn Frey was another musician that the world will never replace. Heartbreaking news. My condolences to his family and of course all the members of the Eagles.

Woke up to the sad news about Glenn this morning. Total shock. I have been to some many Eagles gigs over the years that I took it for granted that the band would be with us forever. We must be grateful that the music will remain even if one of the creators has left the stage. My condolences to the family, his friends and the rest of the band.

We cry for someone we never met, but who has been a part of our lives since the early '70's, and who touched us in ways that most don't. Today I feel so blessed to have seen Glenn perform on 4 occasions - 3 with the Eagles and once with LRB. Gone but never forgotten his music will stand the test of time. RIP. Take It Easy.
